Do You Need To Learn How To Dance?
July 8th, 2011Do you need to learn how to dance? Strictly speaking, no, you do not. You also don’t ever need to go on a hike. It isn’t absolutely necessary that you ever visit the zoo, or see a concert. These sorts of things aren’t things you have to do, they are things that can be really fun to do. They are life enhancers that can make your life a whole lot more fun.
When you start learning how to dance you get a lot more than just that skill. You’re going to gain confidence to be in front of people, to move in front of people, without feeling awkward. This sort of confidence isn’t restricted to the most accomplished dancers either. It can be miraculous the self-esteem and agility that some dance students gain after their first few practice sessions.
Dancing is also great exercise. You’ll be getting a good cardiovascular workout, increasing your flexibility, and raising your manual dexterity all while having a great time. There is a reason that football players who want to work on their footwork and agility have been sent to dance teachers. The benefits that can be gained from dancing are uniquely rewarding for all sorts of individuals.
If you hate dancing, then you don’t have to. You don’t need to dance. But if dancing makes you a bit uncomfortable, maybe you feel a bit awkward when you try to move to music, then you probably should learn to dance. You don’t have to be the next star of a nation-wide talent show, but if you learn how to dance a little bit, you’ll probably find you enjoy it. After that dancing becomes easier and easier. Every bit of dance knowledge will stack on every other bit, and before you know it you’ll be a great dancer who had a great time getting there.
